NSC is supporting the UK Government’s research of next-generation Simulation and Synthetic Environments (SSE) for the British military. Over the next 6 year we will undertake the exploitation of “Synthetic Environments and Simulation Technology” to incorporate emerging systems and processes to enhance future training capabilities.

As such we require a number of additional personnel including Simulation Engineers to join the team to deliver this very important piece of work. The work consists of, although not limited to;

Research Areas:

o Future Operating Environment, i.e. representing the ever-changing backdrop to, and “weapons” of modern conflict, e.g. political, social, economic, cyber, improved command and control, non-state actors

o Innovative Solutions to Force Preparedness, e.g. simulation support to fast-tracking new equipment into service, providing decision support tools

o Experimentation and Exploitation, including models and concept demonstrators, Human/Machine Interface solutions incl. use of AI, sim support to experimentation across MOD.

Technical Areas:

o Model development; behavioural, agent-based, AI; strategic, operational and tactical levels of modelling.

o Simulation Composition: Scenario generation and visualisation; Virtual and constructive simulation; Real time and faster-than-real-time simulation.

o Synthetic Environments Integration: With operational systems and other simulation. Live/synthetic or mixed reality inter-operability; Architecture, integration, testing

o Application Support: Experimental design and delivery; Learning methods and Training systems; Decision Support Data Analytics & Visualisation; Virtual prototyping.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

Practical application of simulation technology
Scenario development
Software integration
Provision of support to training events
Understanding of computer hardware and networking

Because of the nature of the work successful candidates must be able to obtain UK security clearance.
