NSC Bolsters Management Board

SIMULATION, training and consultancy specialist NSC has announced the appointment of two senior defence industry experts to its new-look board.

Stuart Wilkins, a former President of ThyssenKrupp Aerospace, has been selected as the Surrey-based company’s Non-Executive Chairman and is joined on its management team by highly-experienced Finance Director Gary McRae.

An accomplished chief executive with a successful record in international aerospace and defence engineering businesses, Wilkins has previously overseen the operations of companies in the UK, Europe, North America and Far East. His past positions include senior appointments at Dowty, Alvis, Bridgeport Machine Tools and Apollo Metals.

McRae holds an MBA and MA in Economics and joins NSC after 19 years with leading global technology company Laird PLC, latterly as Director of Corporate Development and Legal.

Prior to Laird, the qualified chartered accountant was employed by British Aerospace Defence as Head of Mergers and Acquisitions.

The high-profile appointments are part of wider organisational changes at NSC, which have seen the formation of main and executive boards to oversee the firm’s continued growth and expanding international footprint.

An ever-present supporter of military training in the UK since introducing computer-based wargaming to the former Army Staff College in 1991, the company also provides state-of-the-art simulation and consultancy services to Qatar’s Joaan Bin Jassim Joint Command and Staff College in Doha and the Mubarak Al Abdullah Joint Command and Staff College in Kuwait.

Chief Executive Jeremy Spurr said the calibre of the additions to NSC’s senior team was a reflection of the company’s commitment to ensuring its international customers benefit from industry-leading expertise.

He added: “Both are highly-experienced individuals and bring a wealth of strategic and managerial skills from senior industry roles that will be highly relevant to planning and implementing our next phase of growth and development.”

Wilkins and McRae join Spurr (Chief Executive), Mike Newman (Non-Executive Director), John Prosser (Business Operations Director) and Graham McIntyre (Business Strategy Director) on NSC’s board.
