ISTAR

NSC recognises the value of up-to-the-minute intelligence in operational theatres and has led the way in creating novel training solutions for soldiers who control ISTAR assets.   Harnessing the power of the surveillance equipment found in Afghanistan, we have developed a cutting-edge virtual Base ISTAR trainer. The programme was delivered from concept to service in less than six months in response to an Urgent Operational Requirement from the British Ministry of Defence.   Using a custom-built hardware configuration, the system allows trainees to control a wide range of sensor types to monitor a virtual operating environment which can be customised to feature specific threats and actions.   The trainer can also be set up to stimulate operational systems found in theatre, meaning soldiers are able to hit the ground running when deployed.   With everything recorded as it happens, our ISTAR package can also be used to stimulate post-training reviews.
