NSC develops and supports
a range of computer based combat
simulations used for training and
analysis by staff colleges, units and
defence research establishments in
the UK, NATO and elsewhere.
For Brigade and below the NSC CONTACT range of constructive training
systems is in use by the British Army and other NATO
nations. These simulations extend beyond traditional warfare to
address issues such as Peace Support Operations and asymmetric
warfare.
NSC also provides the UK’s first major in-service training
system using commercial games technology, Operational Joint Combat Virtual
Environment (OpJCOVE) which delivers pre-deployment Convoy
Training for the British Army.
NSC also has extensive experience
in OOTW modelling for the UK MoD and NATO. NSC supports NC3A
and Dstl in the development of their OOTW simulation models:
GAMMAand DIAMOND.
NSC provides ongoing development
and support for both models, which represent a range of activities
that may be encountered during Operations Other Than War (OOTW).
The models are leading analytical computer models for assessing
Peace Support Operations PSO.
National Security and Resilience is a
key area where the NSC’s collective training and Modelling and
Simulation experience has been applied to the civil sector in
particular providing Gold Level Crisis Management training for the
UK Cabinet Office.
Support
activities include exercise planning, scenario development and
generation, military and doctrinal advice, and exercise support to
single service and joint operations at a number of military training
establishments worldwide.
