NSC has more than fifteen years’
experience providing solutions to specific
single and joint service military training
requirements. Over this time, they have
developed and supported a range of computer
based combat simulations used for training
and analysis by the military and defence
research establishments in the UK,
NATO and elsewhere.

Exercise Assifah Ramliyah is a typical example of NSC’s capabilities in this field. NSC has successfully designed and delivered this culminating exercise for the annual course at an overseas Joint Command and Staff College for over seven years. The scenario and exercise programme has been continually developed to reflect the evolving training requirements of the courses.

JOCASTS (the Joint Operations Command and Staff Training System) is ideally suited to meet this requirement because it has been developed by NSC to meet similar training objectives at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in the UK. JOCASTS is a highly configurable environment and provides a realistic context in which to perform command decision-making and staff procedures training of joint force operations at the operational level.

The scenario, based around a confrontation and subsequent conflict between fictitious coalition forces within the Persian Gulf, has been developed in close co-operation with Directing Staff from the overseas college to fulfil their specific training needs. Scenario development tasks undertaken by NSC include:

  • selection and modification of the exercise area, including the production of mapping and the automatic generation of terrain analysis data.
  • determining the force compositions.
  • defining strategic installations, for example oil wells and pipelines, factories, key government buildings and ports.
  • production of the historical background for participating coalitions and a geopolitical context for conflict

Experienced NSC staff, with a background in developing and supporting over a hundred similar exercises for the UK armed forces, were on hand to offer comprehensive advice and support throughout the development of the scenario and to manage the system during the exercise itself.

NSC will also supply and install the computer hardware needed to support the software, in addition to providing the system itself and their expertise in operational analysis and support to the exercise planning and control staff.

NSC would be delighted to discuss provision of this proven and robust solution to meet your specific requirements.
